Participation House Brantford opened in June 1978 to provide community living accommodation to severely physically disabled adults. Many of our residents had been inappropriately placed in large institutions , chronic care wards of hospitals, nursing homes, etc. Their biggest disability was not being physically disabled but in most cases environmentally disabled. To this end most of our energies have been put towards challenging our residents to their fullest potential, integrating them spiritually, emotionally and physically back into our community.
Programs available to residents a Participation House include: Life Skills, academic upgrading, communication (including Blissymbolics), occupational therapy, sports, recreation and leisure activities, general hygiene and self care, computer training, community involvement, volunteer and employment experience.
